Why Wyatt?
Article Abstract:
The creation of unified scheduling and commissioning for radio and television will allow the BBC to develop large pan-BBC projects, according to BBC Broadcast chief executive Will Wyatt. Under the restructuring of the BBC, which will take effect on Apr 1 1997, he will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning and scheduling of all the BBC's radio and television programming. He acknowledges that the new era of digital broadcasting will pose considerable challenges for the BBC, and accepts that BBC Broadcast and BBC Production must not be allowed to drift apart.

Young heroes know the form, and smash it
Article Abstract:
High profile media personalities such as Danny Baker and Chris Morris have found that the BBC likes them to have an extreme personality, thus attracting large audiences, but that they are still expected to adhere to certain standards. This is why both Baker and Morris have now been dismissed by the BBC. Such personalities seem to need to constantly go beyond recognised boundaries, and this in itself is an indication of how meaningless these boundaries are.

Tuning in by remote control
Article Abstract:
Alan Yentob, formerly controller of BB1, is now playing an equally significant role as director of programmes. He is responsible for amalgamating television and radio in-house production, and must ensure that the new controllers receive the programmes they want. In the longer term, he will play a key part in ensuring that the BBC is in a position to produce intellectual property from which it can derive benefit as many new technical outlets emerge.
