Why parents keep quiet about dummies
Article Abstract:
The modern style dummy has been available throughout the 20th century, but modern parents often feel very ashamed about giving their children a dummy. This is mainly because health professionals had for many years regarded dummies as a serious danger to the health of babies, dismissing them as germ-laden and a major source of infection. However, later research showed that these views were groundless. In fact, objections to dummies are more likely to have been rooted in the fact that they were contrary to health professionals' ideals of self-control and discipline.

Awash with elephants
Article Abstract:
The Sonepur Mela religious festival in Patna, India, is the most significant annual event in Bihar, one of the poorest and most densely populated Indian states. It is also the largest livestock fair in the world, and attracts very large numbers of pilgrims and traders. The highest status is held by the elephant traders, who sell elephants at prices easily exceeding 10,000 pounds sterling. The elephants are washed in the Ganges, where pilgrims also immerse themselves.
