Archer wins the race to be Tory mayor candidate

The UK Conservative party has chosen millionaire novelist Jeffrey Archer as its candidate for Mayor of London, England. This decision has attracted considerable controversy, and Archer has not received the endorsement of his rival, Steven Norris. However, bookmakers have installed Archer as favourite to become Mayor, followed by Ken Livingstone, whom Labour party leader Tony Blair is trying to block as a candidate.
