Congress has cut billions of dollars from NASA's budget since 1992. However, NASA Administrator Daniel Goldin believes that ambitious space programs, such as the planned Mars mission, can still be pursued by finding ways to reduce the cost of human space travel to hundreds of millions of dollars.

The origin of sudden bursts of gamma rays that readily disappear in a few seconds has not been definitively established by scientists. Their source could either be from within galaxy or outside of it. This phenomenon has been going since the 1960s.

Space: requiem for Magellan
Article Abstract:
The Magellan spacecraft plunged into Venus on Oct. 12, 1994, after a final experiment to collect data on the planet's gravitational field. Magellan has been orbiting Venus since Aug. 1990 to collect radar images of the planet's surface.
