Air-monitoring, pollution control technologies chosen for EPA verification program
Article Abstract:
The EPA's environmental technology verification program will next examine advanced air-monitoring devices and air pollution control technologies. The program assesses new and innovative technologies in terms of performance claims to facilitate their market entry. The bulk of a $10 million congressional allocation has been funnelled into the two-year-old third-party verification program in 1996 and 1997. Awards for third-party contracts will be given out at the close of the fiscal year in Oct. 1997.

States join to certify technologies
Article Abstract:
State governments led by California are joining together in an effort to expedite the certification process for new environmental technologies. These states have already signed agreements to share research data and resources with the aim of minimizing the time needed for getting new environmental technologies to the field. Many observers believe that this could be the first step in the formation of a technology certification program on the national level.
