Canada reaches out to NASA
Article Abstract:
Canada has is now interested in investing in an international space station being built by the US. Canada says it will make a $150 million robotic hand, as well as the $865 million robotic arm that Canada has already promised. In return, Canada will hold a 2.3% stake in the station and have access to its facilities.

Funding council hopes plan offers port in political storm
Article Abstract:
Canada's Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council announced a 5-year plan it hopes will bolster political support. The Council had suffered severe budget cuts, a Conservative Party attempt to eliminate it, and an internal fight that resulted in the ouster of Pres Lynn Penrod.

Drug industry misses target for funding work on campus: Canada
Article Abstract:
Canadian drug companies have failed to contribute promised funds for medical research they had promised in an agreement between the Pharmaceutical Mfrs Assn of Canada and the Canadian Medical Research Council. The PMAC complained about the MRC's cumbersome peer-review requirements.
