High levels of monoaromatic compounds limit the use of solid-phase microextraction of methyl tert-butyl ether and tert-butyl alcohol
Article Abstract:
A headspace method is used to study groundwater from 74 service stations and 670 monitoring wells in the northeastern United States, instead of a solid-phase microextraction (SPME) method, as it is determined that water samples with high levels of aromatic compounds give artificially low measurements of BTEXsTMBs when studied with the SPME method. Purge-and-trap GC/MS, and static headspace GC/MS methods are preferred to the SPME method.

Comparison of an individual cogener standard and a technical mixture for the quantification of toxaphene in environmental matrices by HRGC/ECNI-HRMS
Article Abstract:
Two standards for toxaphene profiling are compared for accuracy, using cogeners and high-resolution gas chromatography/electron capture negative ion high-resolution spectrometry. The insecticide toxaphene's congeners are graphed according to the technical standard and the Promochem standard.
