Controlling new products: a contingency approach
Article Abstract:
A study has been conducted to investigate managerial control practices under two different categories, namely, familiarity and uniqueness. The study examined specific new product control practices and compared them to those used for known and established brand name products. Significant differences were found between related and unrelated new product situations. Findings have indicated that in order to have high quantities of successful new products, all formal and informal managerial controls should be tight.
