Beginning to see the light
Article Abstract:
Electrical engineer Igor I. Smolyanlnov and his colleagues have used the liquid-droplet black hole analogue to create a microscope that can see details smaller than the wavelength of the illuminating light. The microscope is based on theory that plasmons have a shorter wavelengh than the photons from which they were converted and so they respond to finer features.

Cosmic power: superenergetic cosmic rays could reveal the unification of the forces of nature
Article Abstract:
Observations of cosmic rays by the Akeno Giant Air Shower Array indicate that at least one had the energy of more than 100 million times over the range of particle accelerators on earth. These high-energy cosmic rays may provide clues to the universe's origin, when the forces of nature were unified.
