Article Abstract:

Meeting the environmental challenges of the future depends on the strengths and weaknesses of current efforts to advance the field. Recent advances in environmental science, technology and policy reveal these strengths and weaknesses. One plus factor is the awareness of environmental risks and the steps taken to thwart them. Another is the wealth of data in the area of exposure. Inadequacies, however, are prevalent in determining stress-response relationships at the community and ecosystem level and exposure analysis.
