Elastic constants of single crystal Hastelloy X at elevated temperatures

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the effectiveness of a method for measuring the elastic constants of cubic single crystal of nickel-based alloy Hastelloy X at elevated temperatures. Results indicated that the enhanced the accuracy of constants brought about by the acoustic time of flight technique resulted to changes in the predicted stresses of individual grains. The use of elastic single crystal constants for approximation purposes have been proven to be inaccurate.

Experimental evidence of temperature path independence in the polycrystalline alloy Ni3Al

Article Abstract:

Experiments on the temperature path history independence (TPHI) and the flow stress dependence of Ni3Al show that TPHI arises from the (100) screw dislocations in the microstructure. The study uses transmission electron microscopy for high and low temperature deformations. The mechanisms of anomalous strengthening in the alloys is completely reversible and independent of the generation of a dislocation substructure. Deformation is mediated by the dislocation mobility.

Bilinear behavior in nano and microindentation tests of fcc polycrystalline materials

Article Abstract:

Alpha-brass aluminum microhardness and deep nanoidentation data when fitted to the Taylor dislocation-hardening (TDH) model produce a straight-line behavior consistent with the model. The nanohardness data obtained at shallower depths exhibit straight-line behavior but with a shallower slope.
