Enantioselective determination of chlordane components using chiral high-resolution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry with application to environmental samples
Article Abstract:
The use of mass spectrometry and chiral high-resolution gas chromatography (HRGC) is an effective method to determine chiral chlordane component enantiomer selectivity. The study used a modified beta-cyclodextrin as a chiral selector for several chiral octachlordanes. The analysis of tissue extracts, which contained chiral chlordane, and technical chlordane, which is a mixture of hexachlorocyclopentadiene-derived chemicals, helped show the effectiveness of using HRGC in conjunction with mass spectrometry.

Kinetics of Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate mineralization in sludge-amended soil
Article Abstract:
Researchers from the Aalborg University in Denmark conducted an experiment that showed that di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) degradation in sewage sludge and agricultural soils is biphasic and that certain amounts of DEHP may escape mineralization under in situ conditions.
