Estonian researchers lead the way in science reform
Article Abstract:
The scientific community in Estonia has made great progress in reforming state support of science since the collapse of the Soviet Union by introducing a competitive grant system. However, researchers are divided in support for a plan to integrate research institutes and universities.

NASA researchers eye Mir

NASA has approved a project to grow protein crystals on the Russian space station Mir as part of a scientific exchange agreement that the US and Russia signed in Jul 1992. Temperature fluctuations and vibrations could pose problems for the experiments.
