National Research Council recommends sweeping changes to promote technologies
Article Abstract:
The National Research Council (NRC) has disclosed that development of new technologies for soil and groundwater cleanup is being hindered by market forces that gives preference to inefficient existing technologies. The council has stressed the need to assess cost and performance benefits that novel technologies can afford users. The NRC has made a recommendation to the Securities and Exchange Commission to require firms to declare hazardous waste sites as financial liabilities in order to prevent delaying action in cleanup activities.
