Ethical Considerations in Leaping from Bench to Bedside
Article Abstract:
Animal experimentation became more widely used as antivivisectionist opposition became more acceptable in developing interventions for human diseases. Scientists used less self-experimentation. Proposals for human gene therapy receives more public attention and a more public process of review. The Recombinant DNA Advisory Committee accepts preproposals involving severe combined immunodeficiency disease caused by adenosine deaminase deficiency and [Alpha} thalassemia has prompted considerable public interest.
