Article Abstract:
The first phase of building the Midwest Express Center convention facility in Milwaukee, WI, is anticipated to be completed in Jul 1998. Costing $170 million, the center will feature 670,000 sq ft of exhibition space. It will be located at the center of a four-block parcel of redeveloped land, surrounded by shopping complexes, sports facilities, theaters and restaurants. Companies working on the convention center include Graef, Anhalt, Schloemer and associates, Affiliated Engineers Inc and Engberg Anderson Design Partnership.

Design/build propels San Francisco rail service
Article Abstract:
The Federal Transportation Administration has added $750 million to the $1.16-billion rail extension project in San Francisco, CA. The agency is expecting to realize savings of up to 15% due to the design/build scheme used in the project, which connects the Bay Area Rapid Transit system to the San Francisco International Airport. When completed, it will move up to 70,000 passengers per day, 20,000 of which will come from the airport.
