FEMA model helps California hospitals postpone costly upgrades
Article Abstract:
A modeling and risk assessment program by the Federal Emergency Management Agency allows up to 600 California hospitals to delay seismic upgrades until 2030. The hospitals are considered susceptible to collapse during earthquakes and have to spend for seismic upgrades to meet state requirements by 2013 prior to the FEMA model.

Dam rehabilitation: Corps to use embedded wall to repair Lake Okeechobee Dike
Article Abstract:
The details of a repair, involving installation of a permanent cutoff wall and relief trench on the 140 mi long Herbert Hoover Dike, surrounding Florida's Lake Okeechobee, are presented. The construction work has been taken up by the Army Corps of Engineers.
