The atmospheric patterns that appear in Canada's skies serve to portend the country's weather and climate conditions. Haloes that form around the sun or moon, for example, indicate that a looming storm is coming while the thickening of altostratus clouds mean heavy rains.

The copper redhorse fish has been added to Quebec's endangered species list. It is thought that pollutants which disrupt the endocrine system are responsible for the fish's lack of breeding success in the wild.
