Grad schools preview the shape of Ph.D.s to come

Many graduate schools are changing their Ph.D. programs to respond to criticisms that training is too long, too narrowly focused and not well integrated with real-world concerns. The reform efforts of several graduate schools are described, including those of Northwestern's biochemistry department.
