Nature's Gold Factory
Article Abstract:
Astrophysical, atomic, and terrestrial factors make gold a rare metal in Earth's crust. Hot waters circulating in the crust may leach gold from rock and create vein deposits. Researchers question why gold is concentrated in certain vein deposits, which aqueous species dissolves gold, and under which hydrothermal conditions are the gold species soluble.
