New clues to circadian clocks - including mammals'
Article Abstract:
Northwestern Univ researchers have cloned a Circadian clock gene from mice, the first from a mammal. The new gene is similar to known genes from fruit flies and bread mold, and two newly discovered bread-mold genes, in that they all contain a PAS domain, presumably a key to circadian rhythms.

Receptors find work as guides
Article Abstract:
A group of receptor protein tyrosine kinases (RPTKs) known as the Eph family, appears not to act like other RPTKs. Recent studies suggest the role of the Eph group, concentrated in the nervous system, is to guide axons to the correct parts of the brain.
