OH reaction kinetics of gas-phase alpha- and gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane and hexachlorobenzene
Article Abstract:
Gas-phase alpha- and gamma-hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) and hexachlorobenzene (HCB) can be transported great distances through the atmosphere before removal processes related with the global distillation effect. Using the three compounds, a reaction system used to study the OH reaction kinetics of low-volatile organic compounds, was developed. Rate constants were measured over the temperature range of 346K-386K at pressures of 1 atmosphere and were extrapolated by the Arrhenius equation.

Atmospheric SF6: trends sources, and prospects
Article Abstract:
Global sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) sales and end-use aplications have been found to be an effective means of monitoring SF6 levels. Emissions modelling and atmospheric observations are found to have a general agreement with revised sales data and end use aplication rates thereby allowing the extrapolation of emission rates back to the 1950s. Results are suggestive of possible reduction of SF6 releases of up to 90% with certain technological efforts.

Ambient concentrations of ethanol and methyl tert-butyl ether in Porto Alegre, Brazil, March 1996-April 1997
Article Abstract:
An analysis of oxygenates and fuel additive concentrations and emissions in Porto Alegre, Brazil reveals that vehicle emission rates stand at 2336 tons plus/minus 398 tons per year for ethanol and 1668 tons plus/minus 193 tons per year for methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE). The area's fuel use profile stands at 17% ethanol, 74% gasoline-MTBE with proportions of 85% and 15% respectively, and 9% diesel fuel.
