Palo Alto, California, being a pedestrian-friendly city, has taken pains over the years to build pathways so as to ease the lot of foot travelers and cyclists. The city's most recent effort, the pathway that crosses beneath roads and rail lines, $3-million Homer Avenue underpass is designed by the San Jose, California, office of Nolte, an engineering company based in Sacramento.

I-55 expansion under way in Mississippi
Article Abstract:
Construction began in March 2004 on a three-year, $ 40-million project to expand Interstate-55, a central north-south link in northwestern Mississippi. The project will expand 2 mi (3.2 km) of the roadway from two to four lanes in each direction, bringing overdue relief to the congested highway.
