Photoprocesses in microaggregates
Article Abstract:
Photochemical reactions and photophysical processes such as fluorescence and triplet-state decays occur on a time scale that is very short relative to the lifetime of the aggregates and often comparable to or faster than solute or counterion exchange between the aggregates and the surrounding medium is presented. Small molecules and ions present in the bulk phase can migrate rapidly in and out of the aggregates, while those incorporated in the microaggregate can migrate within the aggregate.

Asymmetric transfer of carbenes with phenyliodonium ylides
Article Abstract:
Identical selectivity for reactions of Rh (II)- and Cu (I)- catalyzed decomposition of diazo compounds and phenyliodonium ylides is found. Further research will be directed to the in situ generation and decomposition of phenyliodonium ylides and to improve the enantioselectivity of the reactions to reach levels of induction comparable to those possible in diazo secompositions.
