Article Abstract:
The raccoon rabies epidemic has spread through the eastern US and is about to enter Ontario. Symptoms include foaming at the mouth and uncontrollable rage. To contain the disease, wildlife officials are hunting raccoons in the area to vaccinate them.

A cure for rabies?
Article Abstract:
A case study of a Wisconsin teenager who contracted rabies from a bat bite is presented with reference to his treatment. The treatment involved inducing coma and administering drugs that fought the rabies virus and protected the brain.

New methods of controlling rabies in wild animals include the use of edible vaccine-laced baits and genetically engineered vaccines. Researchers have been studying the vaccination of wild animals since the early 1960s.
