Scientists plan Mercury probe and Earth satellite campaign
Article Abstract:
The European Space Agency plans to approve a Mercury mission to study the planet's magnetosphere and acquire data on planetary evolution. Russia, the US and Japan plan a coordinated effort to observe earth's magnetosphere in winter 1996, when their respective satellites will be in perfect alignment.

France brings space goals down to earth
Article Abstract:
France's one-time position as the leader in European space exploration is on the decline. The new socialist government plans to redirect resources toward economic and social concerns. The country will honor its previous committment of $2.3 billion for a European space station.
