Spreading the word
Article Abstract:
The Internet has played a valuable role in disseminating information about the ThrustSSC supersonic car. The ThrustSSC Web site has attracted considerable attention, and has been very useful for publicity without being too expensive. It has been updated very regularly with information obtained via a geostationary satellite network supplied by Hughes Network Systems. The project has used a client/server system based on TI's Composer application development tool to provide information about test runs as quickly as possible.

Net survival
Article Abstract:
E-commerce is changing the way industry conducts business, with the UK market set to reach 2.8 billion pounds sterling in 1999, according to IDC statistics. The global market is forecast to amount to $3 trillion by 2002, says PA Consulting. The first companies which embrace Internet technology will have a business advantage, while latecomers to e-commerce will fail. The procurement process will be impacted the most by e-commerce, while homeworking will become more commonplace and product development will accelerate.
