Article Abstract:
The Russian and the US military have developed various procedures to stop the process of keeping nuclear missiles constantly ready to fire and prevent the occurence of a mistaken launch. Nuclear forces that are off alert may decrease the possibility of both regions to set a first strike.

Issues concerning the plan of two sky-divers, one from Australia and one from the United States, to plunge from a baloon above the ozone layer are discussed. Particular attention is given to the scientific gains of the experiment.
