Protein signals frog embryo to start getting a head
Article Abstract:
Harvard University researchers have found evidence that the protein Vg-1 is responsible for head-cell differentiation in the frog embryo. This type of maternal RNA had been suspected since 1985, when it had been found to collect exclusively in one part of the unfertilized egg.

Analyses of NIH payrolls indicate that women are paid 2% to 9% less than men in comparable positions. Furthermore, anecdotes of an entrenched 'old-boy network' have also been reported. NIH officials have announced efforts to improve womens' salaries and change tenure policies.

Article Abstract:
The glass-enclosed ecology project in the Arizona desert has recently been derided by the scientific community as useless. John B. Corliss was hired to try to obtain serious research data from Biosphere 2. Some people have resigned, but Corliss is optimistic.
