Technology, entrepreneurship and national development: lessons from Singapore
Article Abstract:
A technology development and management model has been developed based on Singapore's practice of government entrepreneurship which helped the country attain total industrialization. The model was constructed by analyzing the role played by multinational firms in the continuous technological upgrading of the country's various industries. The analysis shows that the Singaporean government's role as entrepreneur enabled these industries to acquire foreign technical assistance that helped them advance both economically and technologically.

Developing intellectual capital globally; an epistemic community perspective
Article Abstract:
The epistemic community (EC) concept is applied to examine the process of global innovation in multinational firms. An EC can be defined as an international group of experts who develop and diffuse innovative policies by interacting with each other while advising government leaders in their respective countries. ECs share their ideas internationally through correspondences, publications or conferences. Information dissemination is relative in these communities since its members share the same expert language.

Hollowing-out or international division of labour? Perspective from the consumer electronics industry and Singapore
Article Abstract:
An examination of technology transfer from more developed to less developed countries by multinational corporations has found that a division of labor exists among a growing number of countries. A review of the consumer electronics industry as seen from Singapore's perspective revealed that technology transfer by multinationals has not led to the hollowing-out of technological capability in either Singapore or the host countries of these multinational companies.
