The Viking longship
Article Abstract:
Ancient remains of the phenomenal Viking longships prove that these ocean vessels played a key role in the rise of Scandinavians as a military power during A.D. 800. These ships were used by Viking warriors to invade other lands and seek a means of living through armed robbery and forced taxation.

The lost technology of ancient Greek rowing
Article Abstract:
Rowers mobilizing oared galleys in Ancient Greece used cushions to prevent wear and tear on their bottoms. Bigger ships and different military strategy made the technique known as 'sliding stroke' obsolete in 400 BC. British and American rowers revived the technique in the 1800s.

Written records found in the ruins of the Deir el-Medina village located near the ancient Egyptian city of Thebes show how the people lived 3,000 years ago. These documents were either love poems, government records or private letters indicating personal and legal problems.
