Aerogel is an extremely light solid insulator material made from silica. Aerogels were discovered in the 1930s, but recent technological advances have increased the likelihood that aerogels will be used in a wide variety of devices such as electric cars, refrigerators and thermal windows.

Crisis in space: the heroic flight of Apollo 13
Article Abstract:
Apollo 13 was a failure in the sense that it was not able to achieve its lunar mission. However, the effort to bring its crew safely back to earth is an enduring testament to the skill and courage of the Apollo 13 astronauts and NASA ground crew.

The Voyager and Galileo space probes detected the presence of ice and cryo-volcanic activity in Europa. The moon exhibited active volcanism which caused the formation of liquid water beneath its icy surface.
