Glimpsing Myelin's protein glue
Article Abstract:
Recent research has found that myelin protein P(sub0) acts like glue to keep an axon's insulating layers wrapped and perfectly spaced. In a related study 29 known disease-causing mutations in P(sub0) have been mapped to specific defects in the glue, which lead to breakdown of the myelin.
