Snaring the genes that divide the sexes for mammals
Article Abstract:
Detailing the genetic pathways that result in sex determination in mammals has been hindered by the inability of developmental biologists to use what is known about sex determination in simpler organisms to guide mammalian research.

Knocking genes in instead of out
Article Abstract:
A research team led by Alexandra Joyner has devised a method to study gene function by replacing one mouse gene with another. The method allows geneticists to determine whether two genes are functionally equivalent.
