A new thinking about affirmative action
Article Abstract:
New paradigms of civil rights are necessary, dialogue rather than angry debate must take place and pragmatism must be the order of the day. The many civil rights laws, providing for litigation, have reduced racial discrimination, but are no panacea. Litigation has disadvantages such as cost and contentiousness and is among the least preferable means for resolving social problems. Affirmative action is a much more attractive response.
