Biopolitics
Article Abstract:
The notion of biopolitics is introduced by Foucault in 'The History of Sexuality', where he communicates of the emergence of a new politics where biology is drawn into the domain of power and knowledge. A look at the question of eugenics reveals that biotechnological issues such as gene therapy, stem-cell research and the Human Genome Project all raise significant biopolitical concerns.

Foucault on freedom and capabilities
Article Abstract:
Examination of Foucault's work in transitional period that indicates his appreciation of basic human needs and functions that complicates the current understanding of Foucault as a philosopher of freedom is discussed. Foucault's work shows interesting points of convergence between his thought and the capabilities approach advocated by philosophers like Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum.

Issues concerned with the published lectures given by Michel Foucault in 1975-76 at the College de France are examined, focusing on his philosophical interpretations of the history of war. Topics include Nietzschean discourse on war between social opposites, a summary of the lectures, and a framework in which Foucault understood Rwandan genocide.
