Article Abstract:
Globalization, which is the subject of study in global history, takes one beyond Eurocentrism, nationalism, and their parochial ways of thinking, into a world of both differences and differences being transcended in the name of a common humanity. The story of globalization's development is made up of unintended consequences and human agency, with the result being powerful currents that move in a global direction.

A tale of two enclosures: self and society as a setting for utopias
Article Abstract:
Utopian thinking and utopias as a genre has flourished as forms of the imaginary. The emergence of the genre, with Thomas More, emphasizing spatial arrangement and with Louis-Sebastien Mercier invoking future orientation is illuminated by placing them next to the economic enclosures of their time.
