The future of humor
Article Abstract:
Theories of humor are bounded by two central questions: what makes something humorous and what determines the intensity of that humor? Bergsonian humor answers the first question by maintaining that the the lapse between the time an audience is diverted and the time they catch up with the diversion is the source of humor. The second question is answered by a complementary theory which suggests that the intensity of humor depends on how it closely approaches the boundary of the offensive and the unspeakable. These two aspects indicate that new bases of humor will emerge as new technology continues to appear.

There are also numerous factors that promote the use of advanced new materials such as environmental concerns, production costs and skills requirements.
