A grotesque and dark beauty: How moral identity and mechanisms of moral disengagement influence cognitive and emotional reactions to war
Article Abstract:
The extent to which moral identity and disengagement jointly drive cognitive and emotional reactions to war is studied. It is found that there is a positive relationship between moral disengagement and the perceived morality of a highly punitive response to the perpetrators of war but this effect diminishes when the moral self occupies high importance and negative emotions in reactions to a war reduced with moral disengagement.

Riding a wave of self-esteem: Perseverative tendencies as dispositional forces
Article Abstract:
Studies measured individual differences in perseveration, defined in terms of tendencies toward response facilitation when consecutive trials of choice reaction time tasks require repeated responses. It was found that correlations between self-esteem and relevant outcome measures were particularly strong among individuals high in perseverative tendencies and particularly weak among individuals low in perseverative tendencies.
