A history of Australian social work practice research
Article Abstract:
Issues related to the popularity of practice research in social work since 1929 are examined, focusing on the defining characteristics of practice research in 20th-century decades and the increasing popularity of practice research in the 1990s. Topics include definitions of practice research, which is an analysis of social work practice; foundations of social work research; an evolving critical tradition; and the movement of practice research from the academic margins to the center.

Influencing social workers to use research evidence in practice: lessons from medicine and the allied health professions
Article Abstract:
The Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) movement is consistent with social work ethical principles of using the most effective treatments and at the same time helping practitioners to obtain the latest information and integrate it into their practice presents many challenges. The recognition of the difficulties of EBP not only help to avoid these difficulties but also help overcome cultural beliefs and values held by social workers.
