Alcohol expectancies among adolescents with conduct disorder: prediction and mediation of drinking
Article Abstract:
In 260 adolescents in the age group of 11-18 years with conduct disorder expectancy have been found to play an important role in substance use. Expectancy of enhanced social behavior is significant predicator of alcohol use and mediates for 31-44% of non-expectancy covariance. The strength of other factors such as delinquency, demographics and family history as predictors of alcohol use were also assessed.

Advances in molecular genetics and the prevention and treatment of substance misuse: Implications of association studies of the A1 allele of the D2 dopamine receptor gene
Article Abstract:
The extant published data of the association between the D2 dopamine receptor (DRD2) gene minor Taq 1A(A1) allele and substance misuse risk is examined. A series of meta-analyses was performed on 64 studies examining DRD2 A(super +) allelic status and substance misuse and accordingly possible ways of utilizing the A1 allele to inform prevention and treatment initiatives are discussed.
