Ambivalence, discomfort, and motivated information processing
Article Abstract:
Two studies are conducted to examine the nature and consequence of ambivalent attitudes where the first study assessed whether holding ambivalent attitudes was aversive and the second study examined the conditions necessary for ambivalence reduction. The results suggest that people spontaneously engage in biased information processing in order to resolve their ambivalence.

Attitudes as stable and transparent constructions
Article Abstract:
An attempt is made to gain more insight into the question whether there is a stable network based on a limited set of more specific beliefs that underlies the attitude. The attitude object and the more specific attributes are shown to form a stable associative network in memory.
