Behavioral variability in SHR and WKY rats as a function of rearing environment and reinforcement of contingency
Article Abstract:
An experiment investigated the effect of rearing environment on the behavioral variability among spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR). The rats were reared in either an enriched or an impoverished environment. Four groups were exposed to two reinforcement contingencies. Results showed that rearing environment did not affect response variability but influenced body weight and response rate. SHRs showed a tendency to respond variably while Wistar-Kyoto control rats displayed more sensitivity to the variability contingencies. These results prove that behavioral variability is determined by genetic strain and reinforcement contingency.

Temporal control in rats: analysis of nonlocalized effects from short interfood intervals
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted on the temporal control of postreinforcement pause (PRP) duration due to changes in interfood interval (IFI) in a set of rats with short IFIs intercalated with a set of rats with longer IFIs. Temporal control is the behavioral sensitivity to the length of time in between successive reinforcers of animals which are exposed to frequent periodic reinforcement. It was found that short intervals intercalated with longer intervals produce local and nonlocalized changes in temporal control.

Stochastic matching and the voluntary nature of choice
Article Abstract:
The actors' responses are generated by algorithms and the exponent values matched to the response proportions. It is seen that the actors' responses that matched were close to voluntary choice represented by stochastic responses.
