Caught between private and public interests: vocational training in Chile

Chile's vocational training programs need reform. The shift since the middle of the 20th century from an agrarian to an open-market economy requires improved teacher training, closer cooperation between secondary schools, and developing support structures with material, financial, and human resource elements.

The implementation of dual vocational training structures in developing countries: an evaluation of "dual projects" assisted by the German Agency for Technical Cooperation
Article Abstract:
A double system for vocational training common to developing countries continues to gain popularity. The training model for industry is relatively low-cost, while students completing coursework at vocational training schools are given significantly higher social status than academic students who leave school.
