Dilution of stereotype-based cooperation in mixed-motive interdependence
Article Abstract:
A study has shown that nondiagnostic information about a target minimizes the effect of stereotypes on person perception and social judgment. To extend this finding, three experiments were conducted to investigate this dilution effect in mixed-motive outcome-interdependence contexts and examined not only stereotype-based cognition but also cooperativeness. Findings revealed that people were less cooperative when category information implies that the other is competitive and immoral, and not cooperative and honest. This is not found when nondiagnostic attribute information is presented.

Coaction and upward social comparison reduce the illusory conjunction effect: support for distraction-conflict theory
Article Abstract:
A more definitive support for the attentional hypothesis of distraction-conflict theory is attempted to be provided by using a task designed to demonstrate the illusory conjunction effect. The value of the cross fertilisation between cognitive and social psychology is confirmed and it is shown that social context can strongly modulate visual processes.
