The function of equality heuristic in distributive bargaining: negotiated allocation of costs and benefits in a demand revelation context
Article Abstract:
A substantial amount of research in social psychology has been conducted on issues of distributive justice and fair allocation. Existing empirical literature on the subject has repeatedly documented that people's fairness judgements tend to be biased toward an egocentric direction but there is no clear consensus about what is fair or how to achieve a fair outcome. The role of an equality rule is evaluated in distributive bargaining where two people negotiate how to share a common cost or benefit between themselves.
