Discounting of delayed food rewards in pigeons and rats: is there a magnitude effect?
Article Abstract:
Pigeons and rats were awarded real rewards like food pellets, so that the cross-species generalities and magnitude effects in rewards, where smaller reward amounts were discounted more steeply than larger amounts could be determined. Results indicated that the rates of discounting delayed food rewards were higher in pigeons than in rats and both of them did not show a reliable magnitude effect.

Area under the curve as a measure of discounting
Article Abstract:
The authors present a new approach to measuring discounting based on determining the area under the empirical discounting function. Rather than offer a substitute for theoretical discounting models, this measure provides a simple method independent of a specific theoretical framework.

Do adjusting-amount and adjusting-delay procedures produce equivalent estimates of subjective value in pigeons?
