Education and prejudice: unraveling the relationship
Article Abstract:
The growing diversity of college students has put forward race-related issues in higher education. The role of educational institutions in a diverse population is raised in several issues such as the predominance of the white population in white colleges, lack of minority faculty, racial discrimination charges, debate over affirmative action and curriculum discussions. Sociology promoted assumptions that formal schooling is correlated to decreased prejudice but the most common disclaimer is that higher education facilitates subtle means of expressing prejudice.
