Family violence: an Australian indigenous community tells its story
Article Abstract:
The family violence in many Australian Indigenous communities which includes Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders, is revealed through the experiences of Ceduna Aboriginal community. It is explained that a holistic understanding of family violence as interrelated to community issues that affects everyone suggests a holistic community development approach that builds on the community's strengths.

The capabilities approach and violence against women: implications for social development
Article Abstract:
The capabilities approach that makes human freedom and access to opportunities, central to social development are advocated as an alternative to traditional development theories. Violence against women is identified as capability deprivation and it is advocated that the protection of women from physical and sexual assault to be made a social development issue.
