Hormonal and behavioral determinants of the secondary sex ratio
Article Abstract:
The state of the cervical mucus determines the sex of the offspring. The state of the mucus is dependent on hormonal factors and previous inseminations. Higher levels of the estrogen estradiol increase the penetration ability of the mucus a few days before ovulation. An increased production of progesterone after ovulation and previous inseminations however, lower the ability. Higher cervical filtration favors Y-bearing chromosomes. The sex ratio at conception thus depends on the coital rate and has no dependence on fruitful insemination when coital rates are high.

Divorce American style
Article Abstract:
A study conducted by Abigail Stewart (1997) et al. explored the dynamics in divorcing families and the adjustments made by members. In their book 'Separating Together: How Divorce Transforms Families,' they argued that divorce need not result in negative consequences. Most children are able to grow satisfactorily and to manifest progressively weaker signs of distress after divorce. They asserted that the process of divorce should not be condemned and that its negative effects be minimized.
